Gwen Watson, age 50 passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012 in Fort Worth, Texas following a lingering illness. . She was born September 10, 1962 in Fort Rucker, Alabama the daughter of Austin Juve Kurtz and Bettie McMillian Clauss. Gwen grew up in Ozark, Alabama, graduating from Ozark High School in 1980. She then attended Enterprise Junior College, and Troy State University later transferring to the University of Alabama where she received her Master’s in Counseling. Returning to Ozark she met her future husband at her church, Ridge Crest Baptist in Ozark and after they were married she moved with him to different colleges and universities finally settling in Fort Worth.

Among survivors are her husband Ben C. Watson. Her mother, Bettie M. Clauss, her brother Randolph Alan Kurtz and wife Anna. Her uncles, Quinn A. McMillian and wife Becky, Bobby McMillian and wife Joanne, Lyvonne McMillian and wife Judy, Carvell McMillian, Phil McMillian and Jill McMillian, AndyKurtz and wife Karen and her aunts, Hattie Chapman and Sandra Harper. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Memorials may be made in Gwen Watson’s memory to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, 1015 Pleasant Ridge Road, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435 or to one’s favorite charity. Funeral services will be held Sunday , October 21, 2012 at 2:00 P..M. in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Reverend Phil McMillian officiating.
