Griselda Carpenter Weeks, age 84, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on July 21, 2024, at Chautauqua Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born on September 21, 1939, to Clarence and Era Carpenter, Griselda enjoyed living most of her life in DeFuniak Springs. She graduated from Walton Senior High School and then went on to Florida State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. She was Baptist by faith.
Griselda was delighted with the life she and her husband built in Walton County. She was a proud and loving wife to Garlon and an excellent mother to her three sons. She served the community proudly as co-owner of Weeks’s Pharmacy for over 25 years, and she taught at West DeFuniak Elementary for a number of years. After retirement, she took advantage of any opportunity to show how proud she was of her 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren as well.
Her family will always treasure their times together. She kept the family close and ensured they had time together by establishing a tradition of Sunday night family dinners. This valued tradition holds countless memories for the whole family. More special times include memories of RV camping, piano playing, and Hallmark movie watching. She was always eager to be there to support the grandchildren in their activities, and they never doubted how precious they were to her. She also loved college football - Go Noles!
Griselda leaves behind her three sons Greg Weeks (Cindy), Chris Weeks (Lori) and Mark Weeks (Cherelle), sisters-in-law Hilda Carpenter and Helen Supple, grandchildren Cole Weeks (Alexis), Abigail Weeks, Allison Weeks, Audrey Weeks, and Logan Weeks, and two great-grandchildren Lincoln Weeks and Cannon Weeks.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Garlon Weeks, parents, Clarence and Era Carpenter, brother, Harold Carpenter, sister-in-law Donnie Faye Cooley, and brothers-in-law Clarence Cooley and Buddy Supple.
The service will be officiated by Lyle Seigler. Pallbearers are Greg Weeks, Chris Weeks, Mark Weeks, Cole Weeks, Tracey Dickey, Mac Carpenter, and Logan Weeks.
