Glenn Parker

Mr. Glenn Aery Parker age 88 of DeFuniak Springs passed away at the family residence Monday, January 5, 2009. He was born May 26, 1920 in Opp, Alabama the son of James Henry Nathaniel Levi Parker and Era Marshall Grantham Parker. Mr. Parker was a veteran having served his country with the United States Army until his medical discharge. He was a member of DAV. He owned and operated several businesses but mainly was owner of Parker Mechanical Contractors where he held contracts with Walton and Holmes counties. During this time he was active in local politics and was elected to the Walton County Board of Education where he served as chairman in the early seventies. After his retirement in 1979 he traveled the United States, Canada and Mexico. He always stayed active in politics and was a member of the Walton Democratic Committee. He was a member of IBEW Pensacola Chapter and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He is predeceased by his wife Juanita Majors Parker, his daughter Nancy Parker Breedlove his brothers, William Taft, James Burley, Robert Beasley and Malcolm Edward and his sisters, Sarah Ailene and Lola Quida.

Among survivors are his daughter, Glenda Sue Parker of DeFuniak Springs and his sister Flora Juanita Reeves of Tampa, Florida.

A time of visitation will be Friday, January 9, 2009 from 6 until 8 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with Reverend Jack Nichols officiating. Private family burial will be in Bonifay Cemetery.
