Glenn Neal

Mr. Howard Glenn Neal, age 84 of Bruce, formerly of DeFuniak Springs passed away at his residence Wednesday, January 13, 2010. He was born May 12, 1925 in McCullough, Alabama, the son of William Howard Neal and Bertie Ola Driskell Neal. He graduated from Troy State Teacher’s College with a major in math where he met the woman who was to become his wife and he and Leola were married in 1949. They moved to Freeport where they both taught school. Later they moved to Glendale where Glenn became principal of Glendale School. After the school closed they continued to teach in the system until retirement. Because of his love of nature, and hunting and fishing, they moved to Bruce where they built a home on the river. He was a part of the fellowship of Bruce United Methodist Church.

Among survivors is his son Major, U. S. Marines Retired Don Neal and wife Renee’ of Prattville, Alabama.
His daughter, Kitty Neal of Bruce. His grandchildren; Brandy Daniels and husband Matt of Malone and Christen Huffman and huband Jason. of Pratville. His great grand daughters, Laila Webster and Isabella Huffman and his sisters, Maxine O’Brien and Lillian Lomax and husband J.P. also survive.

Floral arrangements are being accepted. A time of visitation will be one hour prior to funeral time. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 16, 2010 in Jerry Evans Chapel with Reverend Bill Young, Reverend Bill Messer and Pastor Elaine L. Barrow officiating. Burial will follow in Seven Runs Cemetery, also known as Dead River Cemetery.
