Mrs. Gladys Perrey Jones, age 91 of DeFuniak Springs passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2009 in Healthmark Regional Medical Center. She was born February 24, 1918 in Chamois, Missouri the daughter of Arthur Lewis Perrey and Heli Huri Malan Perrey. She lived in Deercreek, Missouri until she was eight years old later graduating from Chamois, Missouri High School. She then moved to Chicago where she was employed with a Navy Radar Manufacuting Company for three years but then accepted a position of Floor Supervisor for Brown Shoe Company, a position she held for a quarter of a century. She married Roy Jones in August of 1980 and they built their home in DeFuniak Springs where they lived until his death in 2000. Mrs. Jones moved to Homosassa Springs, Florida but then moved back to DeFuniak Springs to be near her son and daughter-in-law. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Florala, Alabama.
Among survivors are her sons, Jim Jones and wife Gerri. Dick Jones and wife Helen; her brothers Marvin Perrey and wife Faye and Harvey Perrey and wife Norma. Her sister Erma Free and husband Chuck. Two grandsons, Mark Jones and wife Gayle and Michael Jones and wife Sabrina and one grand daughter Penny Jones also survives.
A time of visitation will be Saturday at 10 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with Reverend Jack Betts officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
