Mr. George Roy McLeod, age 79 passed away in the early morning hours of January 15, 2013 at the family residence. He was born February 13, 1933 in DeFuniak Springs the son of Eustus Terrell and Mabel Alena Paul McLeod. Roy retired from the United States Air Force after twenty years of service as a co-pilot and chief flight mechanic for Air Training Command. After two tours of duty one in Viet Nam and the other in Thailand Roy retired and he and his wife Voncille operated the Georgian Restaurant in Albany, Georgia. Roy and Voncille moved back to DeFuniak Springs where he served on the DeFuniak Springs City Council for ten years. He worked in managerial positions at San Destin Beach Resort. He was a member of East Baptist Church.
Among survivors are his wife, Voncille McInnis McLeod, His brother, Wayne L. McLeod. Two brothers-in-law, Daniel McInnis and wife Barbara and Victor McInnis and wife Elly. A half sister, Sherry Jahns and husband Dennis and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Floral arrangements are being accepted. A time of visitation will be Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 6 until 8 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 18, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in Center Ridge United Methodist Church with Roy’s nephew, Reverend Kurt McInnis officiating. Military Graveside Honors will follow in the McLeod Family Plot in Center Ridge Cemetery.
