Francis C. Day

Francis “Carol” Day, age 52 of Defuniak Springs, FL passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017. She was surrounded by friends and family and was comfortable medically at the time of her passing.  Francis was born to the late Dale William Day Sr. and Francis Marion Balderrama on July 15, 1964 in Defuniak Springs FL.

Francis was known for her love of life and her love of family and friends.  She loved to have fun and you would always see her with a smile on her face, normally laughing.  People who knew Francis loved her fiery, personality and energetic personality.  She was a ball of fire and a fighter. Every action and task that life presented she handled with tenaciousness and candidness.  She was a caring and loving spirit that touched many people throughout her life.

Francis loved her friends and family. Spending time with her friends and family meant the world to her.  Francis was an animal lover. She loved to dance and she loved music. She loved to have a good time.  She was an amazing cook that nourished her friends and family with her amazing food.  It was normal to see her on Saturdays cheering on her Alabama Crimson Tide.

She is survived by her mother, Francis Balderrama, brothers, Charles “Chucky” Porter and Dale “Buddy” Day, children, Jamie Murphy, Dana Balderrama and Dylan Cruz. She was a grandmother to Alexis Murphy and Desmond Murphy and two grand dogs, Mannie and Chula Balderrama. She cherished her significant companion, Bobby Anderson.

Francis requested an informal service including friends and family. A Celebration of Francis’ life will be held Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel.  Francis was an avid Alabama fan and those attending the service are encouraged to wear Alabama related casual clothing.  Those who are not Bama fans may leave their competing college shirts at the door.
