Mrs. Evelyn “Sally” McKenzie, age 81, passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 26, 2018 in Wiregrass Medical Center ER. She was born October 27, 1936 in McCollough, Alabama the daughter of Garvis Bryan and Maggie Delena Wooten Bryan. She attended school in Fairhope, Alabama and in 1958 married the love of her life, Milton McKenzie. They settled in Glendale where Milton was engaged in farming with the help of Sally. They later became a part of Glendale Farms, and when poultry was in its heyday, they owned and operated chicken houses. Eventually the sold out on the poultry business and bought their home where Sally grew and produced some of the most beautiful ferns available in this part of the country. A hard working Christian woman, Sally was a member of Lakewood Community Church.
Among survivors are her brother, James Elbert Bryan and wife Faye of Tillman’s Corner, Alabama. Nieces and nephews, Kimberly Bryan and Karen Woodall and C.J. Woodall and great and great great nieces and nephews. Her trusted friends and companions, Nora and Junior Blair and John Terry.
Memorials may be made in Sally McKenzie’s memory to Lakewood Community Church, 696 State Line Road, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with Brother Wendell Ard officiating. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 30, 2018 in Fairhope Memory Garden in Fairhope, Alabama.
