Mrs. Frances Jean Puckett, age 82, of Montgomery, Texas, widow of the late Eddie Clate Puckett, Jr. passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012 in Conroe Regional Hospital. She was born December 14, 1930 in DeFuniak Springs, the daughter of John Eugene and Berta Dannelley Creel. After graduation from high school she attended Shorter College in Rome, where she received a bachelor’s degree. She taught in the Walton County School System for many years. One of her greatest joys was seeing the successes of many of the students she had taught through the years. Frances and Ed moved to Montgomery, Texas after the death of their son so they could be close to their daughter. After Ed’s death in 2009 Frances became active with a group known as the Silver Belles that met monthly for lunch and dominoes. She was really quite good at dominoes, and excelled at Chickenfoot, a variation of the game. Frances Jean is predeceased by her parents and husband and her son, John Edward Puckett. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of DeFuniak Springs.
Among survivors are her daughter, Jan Glenz of Montgomery, Texas. Her brother in law William Robert Puckett and wife Mary Jane of Henderson, Texas, her sister-in-law Martha Ann Puckett Thompson of Montgomery, Alabama. Two nieces, Ann Thompson Waller and Michelle Puckett Collier and her nephew Robert Puckett, Jr. also survives.
The family has asked that no flowers be sent, rather memorials may be made in France Jean Creel Puckett’s memory to First United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 9, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435-0009. The family will receive friends Friday, December 28, 2012 from 10 until 11 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with the funeral beginning at 11 A.M. with Dr. Larry Teasley officiating. Private graveside will be in the Puckett Thompson Family Plot in Magnolia Cemetery.
