Floyd Alvin Johnson

Mr. Floyd Alvin Johnson, age 81 passed away Monday, June 1, 2015 in Chautauqua Health and Nursing Center. He was born April 25, 1934 in Crenshaw, Alabama the son of Alford Lee Johnson and Viola Elizabeth Maddox Johnson. After attending school in Alabama, Floyd ended up in DeFuniak Springs working for Henco where he met the woman who was to become his wife of nearly 56 years. Jessie Collinsworth was also employed at the chicken plant and by divine intervention, she was placed face to face with Floyd on the line. He got up the nerve to ask her for a date and three months later, they were married. Later Floyd went to Clinton Textiles where he worked some twenty years until retirement. He loved fishing, country and gospel music and John Wayne Westerns. Floyd’s family; his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren gave him a tremendous amount of happiness and many of them were with him when he passed into life eternal Monday afternoon. He was a part of the fellowship of Glendale Baptist Church.

Among survivors are his wife Jessie Mae Collinsworth Johnson. His son, Rocky Johnson and wife Sandra, his daughter Telesa Raughton. His grandchildren, Sheena, Chavez and Kathryn, Harley, April and Amanda and Frank. His sisters, Vonnie and Opal and his brother Ed. His sisters-in-law Sue and Linda, his brother-in-law Franklin, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

A time of visitation will be Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A,M, in Center Ridge United Methodist Church with the funeral beginning at 11:00 A.M with Reverend Rod Curry and Reverend Uvoyne Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery.
