Mrs. Ethel Nell Bosenberg Adkinson, age 86 of DeFuniak Springs passed away Monday September 14, 2009 in Rome, Georgia. She was born August 14, 1923 in DeFuniak Springs the daughter of Charles Fredrick and Ruby Quick Bosenberg.
She was a member of DeFuniak Chapter 115 of the Order of Eastern Star and had served as Past Worthy Matron. Most will remember Mrs. Adkinson in her employment with the Walton County Board of Education as administrative assistant at Walton Senior High School for some 29 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs where she was active in Homebound Ministry. She is predeceased by her husband Hurtis Adkinson, her sisters, Ruth Bosenberg and Edith Henderson and her brothers Charles and Keith Bosenberg.
Among survivors are her daughter Meredith Stewart and husband Reverend Horace Stewart of Rome. Her son, Henry Adkinson of DeFuniak Springs. Her sister, Mary Alice Hicks and husband Jack of DeFuniak Springs. Her sisters-in-law Carol Bosenberg of Tallahassee, Bertie Adkinson and Iva Adkinson both of DeFuniak Springs and Virginia Aldridge of Jacksonville. Six grandchildren, Callen Stewart Hall and husband Jeff, Mary Theresa Wooten, Christy Sasser, Amy Given and husband Colin, Casey Adkinson, Rachel Adkinson and six great grandchildren also survive.
In leiu of flowers memorials may be made in Ethel Nell Adkinson's memory to DeFuniak Springs Chapter 115, Order of Eastern Star, Post Office Box 274, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435-0274 for Charities of DeFuniak Springs. A time of visitation will be one hour prior to funeral time. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in First Baptist Church with Reverend Horace Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Adkinson family plot in Magnolia Cemetery.
