Ernest Lamar (Sonny) Hollingsworth, Jr. age 93 passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 in Healthmark Regional Medical Center ER. He was born August 10, 1927 in Pensacola, Florida, the son of Ernest Lamar Hollingsworth, Sr. and Anna Martha Smith Hollingsworth Reardon. He graduated from Walton High School in 1946 and attended Florida State College for Women until the name was changed to FSU in Tallahassee, Florida. His working career began at the age of 11 at his grandfather Smith’s dairy in DeFuniak Springs. He then worked at Page Funeral Home, Delknap Hardware in Louisville, Kentucky, MR&R Trucking Company in Crestview, Florida and Louisiana Pacific Lumber Company in DeFuniak Springs retiring in 1991. He was active in several areas, First United Methodist Church and the Boy Scouts of America, His wife Coralyn Ann Martin Hollingsworth predeceased him in 1985. He married Gloria Faye Jackson Anderson in 1987 and enjoyed a wonderful life and an extended family.
Among survivors are his wife, Gloria Faye Jackson Anderson Hollingsworth, his children, Rebecca Ann (Becky) Hollingsworth. Ernest Michael (Ernie Mike) (Lind), Nancy Wong (Peter), Martha Posey (Terry). Step children, Walter Anderson (Afshan), Brenda Rees (Lane) and Charles Wilson Anderson (Maribel). Grandchildren, Justin Hollingsworth (Noel), Jill Jenkins (Josh), Anna Toll (Devin), Daniel Wong, Joanna Blackwell (Josh) and Neal Posey (Mallory). Step grandchildren, David Anderson (Colleen), Derek Anderson (Randi), Ashley Anderson, Ethan Massingill, Sean Massingill (Kayla), Brian Rees, Lauren Rees, Heather Walker (Austen), Haley Anderson and many many great grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be Thursday, December 3, 2020 from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. in First United Methodist Church with the service beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Francis Turner officiating. Private family burial will follow. FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH REQUIRES FACE MASK AND SOCIAL DISTANCING. In leiu of flowers memorials may be made in Sonny Hollingsworth's memory to First United Methodist Church, 88 Circle Drive, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435 or to ones favorite charity.
