Eric Michael Lewis passed away unexpectedly on August 19, 2024. He was 39 years old. Born April 16, 1985, to parents Tommy and Susan Lewis, Eric was raised in DeFuniak Springs and graduated from Walton High School. After high school, he began his career in plumbing and electrical. Eric was Baptist by faith.
His job at Andrews Plumbing and Electrical was incredibly important to him, and he valued his relationship with his boss, Robert Andrews. His work ethic and skill were praiseworthy, and Eric was proud of being noted by Robert as “one of the best trim plumbers in Walton County”.
While he loved his job and his work, nothing surpassed the pride and joy he had for his children. He cherished them with an earnest and endless love and was so very proud of each one of them. They were, by far, the favorite thing in his life!
Eric often used his hobbies as a way to share time with his children and family. His hobbies included fishing, fixing anything that needed fixing, working on electronics, repairing cars and go carts, and cheering for the Florida Gators. His sense of humor, and him being prone to pull pranks kept people laughing and enjoying time together.
He had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone who needed it. His kindness, along with his smile and high spirits, helped him get away with being regularly late to most things, and it made his desire to debate come across as less threatening as well. Eric liked to determine who was right with a good-hearted debate. He was an ardent Trump supporter, and he was eager to stand up for what he felt was right.
Eric was a confident and determined fixer, and his dad will always remember him saying “I can fix it, Dad” - and he always did! Eric also loved the line “Dry land is not a myth” from one of his favorite movies, and his family and friends will smile and think of him anytime they hear those words.
Eric is survived by his significant other Christain King, his children Ethan Michael Lewis, Atley Danielle Lewis, Ashlen Mara Lewis, Elijah Julius Lewis, and Freya Grace Lewis, father Tommy Lee Lewis, mother Susan Lenora Slay Lewis, brother Tommy Lee Lewis, Jr, nephews Brantley Evan Lewis and Trenton Cole Lewis, aunt Sherrie Andersen, uncles Linioel Lee Lewis, Robert Hydrick (Cheryl) of Newport New, Virginia, and Eugene Hydrick (Betty) of Concord, California.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Mary Elizabeth Lewis, Thomas H Lewis, Janet Slay and Paul Donald Slay, Sr and a special cousin Charles Edward Garrett.
Eric’s passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew and loved him. Memories of his smile, sweet spirit, and sense of humor will bring comfort in the days to come.
