Biography

Betty Solomon, age 81 of the Jackson Still (Caney Creek Community) of North Walton County passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012 in Healthmark Regional Medical Center. She was born January 3, 1931 in Jackson Still, the daughter of Daniel Oscar and Esther Gill Anderson. After completing her formal education, Betty was employed some twenty years with civil service on Eglin AFB and in Okinawa. In her retirement years she was an active member of First Baptist Church, DeFuniak Springs and was an instrumental part of WMU, serving as Director of WMU of Walton County Baptist Association for a number of years. She was also active in the Order of Eastern Star. She loved listening to Gospel music and her cheerful, loving nature was apparent to all who met and knew her. This loving wife and mother was a Godly Spiritual woman. She is predeceased by her husband Hubert “Hugh” Solomon, her sister Diane Anderson Gray, her brother-in-law Paul Glidewell and a niece, Gail Glidwell.

Among survivors are her sons, Douglas Solomon and Daniel Solomon and wife Wanda. Her daughters, Debbie Lockhart and husband Randy and Dawn Howell. Her sister, Reba Glidewell. Grandchildren, Jackie Armstrong and husband Allen, Ronnie Stancill and wife Barbara, Amber Kelley and husband Adam and Benny Howell, Jr. Great Grandchildren, Allen, Jonny, Tyler, Mackenzie, Angela, Augusta, Julianna, Eva, Blaze and Alex and great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Floral arrangements are being accepted or memorials may be made in Betty Solomon’s memory to any of the outreach ministeries of First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs.
Betty’s family will receive friends at First Baptist Church in DeFuniak Springs, Monday, October 8, 2012 from 10 until 11 A.M. with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the church with Dr. Bobby Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in the Solomon family plot in Caney Creek Cemetery.
