Elaine Faulkner, age 94 of DeFuniak Springs, formerly of Jacksonville, passed away Friday, November 22, 2013 in Healthmark Regional Medical Center. She was born December 29, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Earl George Flores and Kathryn Lukeman Flores. At age 5, she moved with her family from Albany, New York to Jacksonville where she lived most of her life until February of 2009 when she came to DeFuniak Springs to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Those who knew Elaine know that she was a child of privilege and that her father was a very successful and prosperous businessman, so Elaine benefited from being exposed to culture and education from a very early age. She kept up with “what was going on” and was current in news and politics, but her favorite pursuit was following the Jacksonville Jaguars. When season tickets became available for Jaguar’s games in 1995 Elaine, then in her 80’s was proudly a season ticket holder. She had, what her family refers to as, a “spicy personality”; she was sharp and quick witted and ironically also loved spicy food and hot sauce. Local restaurants came to know Elaine and without request would automatically bring out the tobasco sauce with her order. Her life was full, exciting and each moment was fully lived up until the very end. Her morning routine, every morning was to get up, get fully dressed, hair, makeup, jewelry, perfume and then she would begin her day. Elaine Flores Faulkner was Roman Catholic by faith. She is predeceased by her grandson, Justin Chad Faulkner.
Among survivors are her daughter, Janel Goodchild and husband Mike. Her grand daughters, Shelby and Shannon. Her former husband, John Calvin Faulkner also survives.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida with Pastor Tim Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in the Faulkner Family Plot in Oaklawn Cemetery.
