Edward Nall

June 24, 1921 — October 12, 2010

Mr. Edward Cecil Nall, 89 went to be with the Lord Tuesday October 12, 2010 in Chautauqua Rehab and Nursing Center. He was born June 24, 1921, the ninth of eleven children of Bunyan and Pearlie Kirkland Nall. He grew up in Paxton but later attended Walton Senior High School where he excelled in sports. He moved to DeFuniak Springs after serving in World War II and receiving a bachelors from Troy State Teacher’s College, where he played football for the Trojans. He coached football and basketball and taught civics and history, often times incorporating his war experiences into his history lessons. In 1955 Mr. Nall received his masters in administration and supervision from Florida State University. He became principal of Paxton High School where he served for eleven years. He also served in several other administrative positions with the Walton County Board of Education before retiring in 1981. After retirement he enjoyed playing golf with his many golfing buddies, fising and traveling with his wife and granddaughter Erin.

Survivors include his wife Lois Donaldson Nall, his son Warren and wife Mary of Ridgecrest, California. His daughter Cynthia and husband Dr. Herb Brooks of Bonifay. His granddaughter Erin Brooks Lauen and husband David, Jr. Two great grandchildren Tucker Cade Lauen and Arena Coldrey Lauen. Two sisters, Inez Nall McCollough of Florala and Gladys Nall Cawthon of Augusta. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorials may be made in Ed Nall’s memory to First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs, or First Christian Academy or Gideons. A time of visitation will be held Friday, October 15, 2010 from 6 until 8 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in First Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Tucker officiating. The family will receive visitors and guest after the service at the church; there will be no graveside service.
