Edith Delores Dickson, Age 90 entered into eternal rest on Monday June 18, 2012. She was born in DeFuniak Springs, Florida on October 3rd, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Leonard Gabe Johnson and Daisy Viola Kennis Johnson. She attended Tivoli High School from grades kindergarten through twelth grade, from which she graduated. She enjoyed sewing and later became self employed as a seamstress in New York City. Years later, she married Al Dickson in New York. Her love for DeFuniak Springs, Florida never left; therefore she moved from New York and retired in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. She was intelligent, kindhearted, loving, independent, strong spirited, with a vibrant smile. She loved the Lord which was exemplified through her loyal Church attendance and she loved her family dearly. She enjoyed putting puzzles together and feeding the cats that came to visit her home. She also enjoyed spending quality time with her family and cherishing moments with her sister Ruby Thomas. Edith Dickson was a member of the Union Springs Baptist Church in DeFuniak Springs, Florida with presiding Pastor Anthony M. Johnson. . In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband Al Dickson; her sisters: Elmira Freeman, Caroline Hill, Dorothy Johnson, Ida Mae Johnson; her Brothers: Howard Johnson, Arthur Johnson, Lloyd Johnson and Murray Johnson. She was deeply loved and will be tremendously missed.
Edith Delores Dickson is survived by her sister Ruby B. Thomas of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Her Brothers: Hillard Johnson of Columbus, Georgia and John Johnson of Oakland, California. Three sisters in laws: Dorothy Johnson, Elsie Johnson and Helen Johnson. She had many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends and guest Friday, June 22, 2012 from 5 until 7 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in Union Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Anthony Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
