Biography

Mr. Dennis Eugene Kinsey, age 66 passed away Sunday afternoon, April 13, 2014 in Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. He was born July 14, 1947 in Florala, Alabama the son of Edgar Eugene and Faye Clark Kinsey. After graduation from Walton High School in 1964 he joined the United States Air Force serving in Viet Nam. After his tour of duty ended, and after meeting and marrying Caroline Rice Kinsey, they moved to Florida in 1975 settling in Lake City. In 1983 they moved “back home” to DeFuniak Springs where Dennis was employed with Triangle Chevrolet. In 1992 Dennis formed Kinsey Towing Company which he owned and operated for some 14 years. Dennis worked with the City of DeFuniak Springs for nine years until ill health forced his retirement. He loved fishing and spending time at Grayton where he had spent many summers while growing up. He had a jeep that he loved “tinkering” with and on which he and his wife’s son-in-law, Jim Marsh would cruise the woodlands on the reservation, often times veering a little off path. Many hours were spent in his garage, supposedly working on the jeep while enjoying oysters and beer. Dennis was a family man who loved nature and was mesmerized by sunsets. He was a member of First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs. He is predeceased by his father, Gene Kinsey, his Maternal Grandparents, James and Dora Clark, Paternal Grandparents, Manuel and Ethel Kinsey and Granddaughters, Crystal an d Shelly and his favorite uncle Arnold Kinsey.

Among survivors are his wife Carol; his children, Vicki Warner and husband Randy, Dennis Brown and wife Diane, Tracey Marsh and husband Jim, Kimberly Woody and husband Jesse, Chris Kinsey and Lesley and Elaine Schofield and husband Les. His mother Faye Kinsey. His brother Russell Kinsey and wife Gail, twenty four grandchildren and forty one great grandchildren and two constant companions, Lucy and Toby, his dogs, also survive.

Floral arrangements are being accepted or memorials may be made in Dennis Kinsey memory to favorite charities. A time of visitation will be Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 10 until 11 A.M. in First Baptist Church with the funeral beginning at 11 A.M. with Reverend Bobby Tucker officiating. Military Graveside honors will follow in the Kinsey Family Plot in Magnolia Cemetery.
