DEBRAH KAY MITCHEM

Debrah Kay Mitchem was born on December 7, 1952 in Coldwater, Michigan.  She is the younger sister to Donna Green, and daughter of Gertrude and Kenneth Lenington.  Debrah was wife of Wendell Mitchem and mother of Sandra, Kenny, Chris and Craig Mitchem.  Debrah is also survived by her fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Anyone who knew Debrah knew her love of her husband and God.  She followed the Lord in mind and spirit each day in her life.  She worked in Primary Relief Society and teaching seminary to her children and grandchildren. She held fast to her faith and rests now with comfort of returning to her Lord and Savior and her late son Kenny.

Debrah’s love for her children and grandchildren can still be felt through the memories she created with them.  She always stayed back for the extra show on the first grade field trip to Sea World or made sure everyone attended the Boy Scout camp out.  She could even be heard cheering at the ball field.  She always made sure there were cherries and yeast rolls at Thanksgiving and someone’s thumb went in the butter dish.  She even made it a point to hide the turkey tail in one of Wendell’s shirts.  She loved to laugh and travel and her northern accent was always worse when she was with her sister Donna

Even in her passing it is through the memories she gave her friends and family she will live on.  The memories and the countless crocheted or sewn blankets she made for grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Her presence can be felt in the sound of a piano or the sight of a souvenir bell.

Among those asked to serve as pallbearers are Wesley Mitchem, Alex Golden, Michael Golden, Christian Mitchem, Bruce Spann, Gary Mitchem, Jesse Schober and Brian Mitchem.  A time of visitation will be Sunday afternoon, May 8, 2022 from 4 until 6 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel.  Funeral services will be held Monday, May 9, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1391 Walton Road, DeFuniak Springs, Florida  32433 with State President Michael Roberts presiding.  Burial will follow in  the Mitchem Family Plot in Limestone Cemetery
