Colonel Percy W. Miles, Jr. USAF, RET.. better known by his loved ones as P.W. age 84, passed away February 6, 2015 in Healthmark Regional Medical Center. He was born July 26, 1930 in DeFuniak Springs, the son of P.W. Miles, Sr. and Dora Pippin Miles. He was a graduate of Walton High School, graduating with the Class of 1948. He received his Bachelors from Davidson College and his Masters from George Washington University. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for twenty eight years, before retiring in 1981. He then returned to his beloved hometown of DeFuniak Springs. P.W. was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church of DeFuniak Springs and his faith was strong and constant throughout his life. His wit and humorous anecdotes will be missed by all who knew him. He is predeceased by his parents as well as three sisters, Lillian, Kathleen and Erma, and two brothers, Schubert and Jesse.
Among survivors are his sisters, Josephine Whalen and Persis Owens. His sister-in-law, Cathy Miles and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A time of visitation will be Tuesday, February 10, 2015 from 10A.M. until 11:00 A.M. in First Presbyterian Church of DeFuniak Springs, 1063 Circle Drive, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435 with the funeral beginning at 11:00 A.M. in the church with Reverend Michael Moore officiating. Full military graveside honors will follow in the Miles Family Plot in Magnolia Cemetery.
