Biography

Celia Ann Robinson, age 55 of DeFuniak Springs passed away Monday, January 10, 2011 in a Pensacola healthcare facility. She was born July 4, 1955 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, the daughter of Aubrey Glass Robinson and Ann Stinson Robinson .
She grew up in Clearwater, Florida and attended Clearwater High School, graduating with the Class of 1973. She attended St. Pete Junior College and Florida State University. She began a career as a pediatric dental assistant in her father’s practice, a career of some twenty years. She moved to DeFuniak Springs in 1995 and became a part of the historical and cultural society of the area, attending the New York Chautauqua Assembly for many years. She was instrumental in the renovation and preservation of Hotel DeFuniak and owned and operated the tea room and ice cream parlor associated with the hotel. Celia had a love of animals, large and small, and loved being with children especially her niece Opal Marie. She was an advocate of the preservation of Walton County and especially DeFuniak Springs. She was a member of Saint Agatha’s Episcopal Church of DeFuniak Springs.

Among survivors are her mother, Ann Stinson Robinson of DeFuniak Springs. Her brother, Craig Stinson Robinson and wife Angelica and her niece Opal Marie Robinson all of DeFuniak Springs.

Memorials may be made in Celia Robinson’s memory to Alaqua Animal Refuge, 914 Whitfield Road, Freeport, Florida 32439. The family will receive guests Wednesday, January 12, 2011 from 6 until 8 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel. A private family funeral will be held Thursday with The Reverend John C. Scott officiating. Celia will be laid to rest in the Robinson/Underwood Family Plot in Magnolia Cemetery.
