Carolyn Joyce Watson

May 15, 1960 — July 13, 2024

DeFuniak Springs

Carolyn Joyce Duke Watson passed away surrounded by family and friends on July 13, 2024. Born to Daniel Owen Duke and Betty Duke on May 15, 1960, Carolyn grew up in DeFuniak and went to school at Walton, then graduated from Desoto County High School and Northwest Florida State College. She was a longtime member of Glendale Church of God.

Bubbly and undeniably full of life, Carolyn treasured time spent with family and friends. She was always available and ready to help or be with her people. Family and friends never doubted Carolyn’s love for them, nor did her massive English Mastiff, BooBoo. Carolyn took great care of everything and everyone she loved.

Traveling was another way she valued time with loved ones - always up for an adventure and always set to live life to the fullest. Whether riding horses locally or riding motorcycles across the U.S., she was forever eager to share experiences with those she loved.

Carolyn is survived by her mother Betty Joyce Duke, daughter Dusti White (David Lopez), brother Danny Owen Duke, sister Kathy (John) Cordle, grandchildren Ashley Davis, Brittany Alford, Alex and Savannah Davis, Kyle and Kymberly Alford, and great-granddaughter Everlee Davis. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews Johnny (Angelia) Lynch, Bobby Cordle, Kenneth Duke, Shery, Stacey, Jessie, Jammie, Evelyn, Chyrel, Mandy, Michelle, and Jordan, and a very special friend, Tommy Abbott.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Burnis Watson, her father Daniel Owen Duke, paternal grandparents Daniel Elisha and Ronie Duke, maternal grandparents TC and Ethel Murphy, and sister-in-law Sue Duke.

Though she leaves behind many memories for her loved ones to cherish, she will be missed dearly by all.

Services will be officiated by David Amason and Larry Murphy.
