C. Eugene Murphy

Mr. Clifton Eugene Murphy, beloved husband and father, age 83, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. He was born September 20, 1933 in Holmes County, the son of Thomas Clifton Murphy and Annie Ethel Ealum Murphy. Mr. Murphy was a farmer by trade and loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the Glendale Church of God. He was known for his love of God, family, and generosity towards his fellow man. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother-in-law Edward Peters, and his sister-in-law Joyce Murphy.

Among survivors are his wife of sixty-one years, Eddie Merle Murphy; his children Eddy Murphy and wife Patty; Tera Tew and husband William; Julie Bowman and husband Shannon. His brothers, Bill Murphy; Joey Murphy and wife Jeannie; Larry Murphy and wife Sharon. His sister, Betty Duke and husband Owen. His granddaughter, Megan Jones and husband J. His step grandchildren, Joe Don Adkison; Lacey Shaver and husband Jay; Cody Adkison and wife Casi; Emily Bowman and Brent Bowman. His sisters-in-law, Vonnie Peters; Jean Thompson and husband James; Sue Peters-Ferree’ and husband Ray. His brothers-in-law, Woody Peters and wife Nell; Jim Peters and wife Glenda; and Poochie Peters. Five step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Floral arrangements are being accepted. A time of visitation will be Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 10 until 11 AM in Jerry Evans Chapel with the funeral beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Gum Creek Cemetery.
