Mr. Burnis Watson, age 68 passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020 in Doctor’s Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. He was born June 8, 1952 in DeFuniak Springs, the son of Burruss and May Evelyn Price Watson. Those who knew Burnis knew he was an optimist, always finding joy and happiness no matter the circumstance or situation. He was born with an adventurous spirit, always finding wonderment and excitement in everyday things. He loved to travel with his wife, scuba dive, ride motorcycles and crammed living into every moment of his life. Always the outdoorsman, he fished, hunted, built stuff, repurposed stuff and could and would tackle any project, always throwing his whole self into any job all the while, often commenting that he had a great life and felt fortunate that he had lived in Paradise all of his life. He possessed a love of God and family and country and his positive attitude and joyous spirit will be missed by the many family and friends whose lives he touched.
Among survivors are his wife of 43 years, Carolyn Duke Watson. His daughter Dusti Watson White and husband Steve. His grandsons, Ashley Davis IV, Alexander Davis and Kyle Alford. His sister, Kathryn Watson Wyse and husband Bruce; three brothers, Lynn Watson, Earl Watson and wife Dawn and Harold Watson and wife Ann. His brother-in-law Danny Duke and wife Sue and his sister-in-law Kathy Cordle and husband John. His mother-in-law Betty Murphy Duke also survives.
