Mrs. Brenda Ingram Perez, age 56 formerly of DeFuniak Springs passed away Monday evening, December 21, 2015 at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia. She was born June 24, 1959 in Panama City, Florida, the daughter of Bob Kennedy Ingram, Sr. and Leona White Ingram. Brenda grew up in DeFuniak Springs, attended Walton County Schools and graduated with Walton High’s Class of 1977. She then attended OWJC earning her Associate’s Degree at which time she joined the United States Army. While in the Army, stationed in Ft. Riley, Kansas she met her future husband. She married Rene Perez in Ft. Benning, Georgia. When her first born son was coming along, she ended her four year Army Career. Later, she became employed with civil service, cancer registrar, a position she held until ill health forced her retirement in 2015. Brenda served her country, with the military and with civil service some thirty five years. There were two things of major importance during her life. Jesus Christ, her family, be it parents, husband, children or grandchildren. As the years marched on, she loved having her morning coffee and listening to Southern Gospel music. She was “at one” with nature, loved gardening and had a passion for Sun Flowers. She loved each and every member of her family equally, but if there was ever one to capture her heart it was the granddaughter she named Hope Elizabeth, whom she called “Little Rosebud”. Brenda was well thought of in the community, and in her workplace and claimed many friends. Each had a special relationship with her, but two of her very closest friends on Earth were Howie and Mr. Peepers. These two dogs gave Brenda immense enjoyment, especially in the last weeks and months of her life. She cherished her Savior, her family, her friends and saw every moment of her life as a blessing. She is predeceased by her son, Robert, her parents, and her brother Bob Kennedy Ingram, Jr.
Among survivors are her husband, Rene Perez. Her sons, Jason Perez and wife April and Andrew Perez. Her brother Malcom “Mac” Ingram and her sister Kelly Dale Thompson. Her sister-in-law Annette Lalonde and husband Rick and four grandchildren, Mackenzie, Alec, Caleb and Hope Elizabeth also survive.
Floral arrangements are being accepted or memorials may be made in Brenda Ingram Perez’ memory to Cancer Research or Alaqua Animal Refuge, 914 Whitfield Road, Freeport, Florida 32439.
