Betty Chestnut

Betty Chestnut, age 87, of Crestview passed away on Friday January 5, 2024 at North Okaloosa Medical Center. She was born in Brewton AL on August 4, 1936, to Austin and Lizzie Mae Pittman, she was the 2nd born of 9 children. Betty grew up in Crestview and married Billy Chestnut. For many years she worked for Piggly Wiggly and Monsanto. Betty loved her family and taking care of them. She loved being “MeMaw” to her 2 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Chestnut, her son Kenny Chestnut, a granddaughter Amanda Kaye Harris, and 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Betty is survived by her children: Willie Chestnut and his wife Shirley, Katrina Harris and her husband Dennis; her adopted son Andy Powell and his wife Heather; granddaughters Jessica Breaux and April McPherson: great grandchildren: Owen McPherson, James McPherson, Kaitlyn Breaux, Aiden Breaux, Jesse Ladner, Daniel Ladner, Mason McPherson and Kevin McPherson: sisters Bobbie Strous and Elaine White and husband Wayne, and many nieces and nephews.

The celebration for Ms. Betty will be held on Thursday January 11th, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Victorious Life Worship Center with Pastor Donnie Cadenhead officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. A time of visitation will begin with the family at 9:30 a.m.
