Betty Davis Burney

Mrs. Betty Davis Burney, age 86, a resident of DeFuniak Springs since 1996 passed away at the family residence Sunday, December 22, 2013. She was born March 24, 1927 in Fredericktown, Ohio the daughter of Orly Lee Davis and Anna Myrtle Walker Davis. Betty graduated from Fredericktown High School with the Class of 1945. In 1948 she met and married Walter Burney on August first of that year. They went to Palm Beach on their honeymoon and never left, until 1996 when they moved to DeFuniak Springs and built their dream home. Those who knew Betty know she was an avid baseball fan, following the Braves and Tampa, She is predeceased by her husband, her son Allen Lee Burney, her brothers, Wilson, Wilbur and Charles and her sister Ruth.

Among survivors are her children, Karl Burney, Charles Burney and wife Debbie and Susan Logan. Her grandchildren, Christian Burney and wife Sara, Holly Tice and Heather Schrieber and husband Jon. Her great grandchildren, Christian, Preston, Jackson and Emma. Her sister, Lucy Dade also survives.

Floral arrangements are being accepted. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 27, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with Pastor Richard Murray officiating.
