Our beautiful Barbara went to be with our Lord on October 10, 2015 after an extended illness. Barbara was a vivacious, fun loving, generous, nurturing wife, mother, daughter, sister, in-law and friend who lived life to its fullest. Her nickname was “Beachy Barb” and she was a “live wire!”
She is survived by her husband of 26 years Adrian Davis (Dave) Lovell, Jr., daughter Alexandra Grace (Alex) Lovell, son Adrian Davis (Davis) Lovell III, mother Betty Grace Bowen, brothers Ronald (Bubba) Steward (Becky), Vernon Steward (Pam), mother-in-law Mary Claire Lovell, sister-in-law Lori Lovell Durham (Bill), brother-in-law Jefferson McCall Lovell (Jeff) and her 8 nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by a host of loving friends, too many to mention by name, but two of her closest being Kim Ryals (Tim) and Kitty Taylor (Alan Riehl). Barbara easily made friends and had many of them wherever she lived.
Barbara was predeceased by her father Vernon Steward, stepfather Bobby Bowen, and father-in-law Adrian Davis Lovell, Sr.
Barbara was born August 24, 1960 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and grew up in Tuscaloosa and Bessemer, Alabama. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 1983 (Roll Tide!) with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing. While at the University of Alabama she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, a U of A Corolla Beauty and a Bama “Bear Girl”.
After graduation Barb moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where she met the love of her life and husband Dave. Prior to their meeting she was a flight attendant for PBA (Provincetown Boston Airlines) and soon realized she was an attendant who did not like to fly. She moved into marketing and sales, initially as a representative for L’Oréal Cosmetics and then for Ross Pharmaceuticals. After marriage and moving to Tallahassee she went to work with Capital Insurance Agency where she was a top producer for nearly 10 years before moving to Santa Rosa Beach (Blue Mountain Beach) in 1998. There she joined the ranks of real estate agents, also attaining top producer status with Arnsdorff Gulf Front Realty and later Beach Properties of Florida. She and her family have been active members of Point Washington United Methodist Church since 1999.
Barbara was an organizer, leader and strong advocate for children. She spearheaded and hosted numerous fundraising events for numerous organizations, including (through her “Coastal Queens” group) Children’s Volunteer Health Network (CVHN) and the Muskogee Indian Tribe.
Family and friends will Celebrate Barbara’s life at a service to be held at Point Washington United Methodist Church located at 1290 North 395, Santa Rosa Bch, Florida 32459 on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. – a reception will follow.
