Mr. Arthur Peter Perrucci, age 82 longtime resident of DeFuniak Springs passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012 in Chautauqua Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was born February 23, 1930 in Meriden, Connecticut the son of Joseph Salvatore Perrucci and Catherine Louise Gullo Perrucci. Art joined the United States Navy when he turned seventeen years old. After his military services ended, he worked in many different jobs where he learned a variety of skills. In 1976 he and his wife Barbara moved to DeFuniak Springs because her parents already lived here, and Barbara found a house she loved on North Ninth Street which became their home until the present. Barbara passed away in 1982. After his wife’s death Art raised their children and worked odd jobs as a handyman all around the neighborhood. He endeared himself to the “girl’s” at Goff’s Ready-To-Wear next door to his home, and it wasn’t long before he was one of the mainstays in keeping the grounds around the store in immaculate shape. In his last years, Art loved Westerns, especially John Wayne, and his daughter-in-law Paula got him “hooked” on Nascar and Auburn Football. Anyone visiting Art’s home would be bedazzled as they walked into the house by the murals and folk art painted on the ceilings and walls throughout the house, all painted by Art. Art loved DeFuniak Springs, and Saint Margaret Catholic Church, and his family and children and grandchildren. He lived a full productive life, always keeping busy and never a moment of his time was wasted. He is predeceased by his wife Barbara and his sisters Millie and Betty.
Among survivors are his son John and wife Paula. His son Mark and children. His daughters, Tina and husband Robert and children and Vicki and children. His grandsons Jonathon and Brandon. His closest friend and life long buddy since age seven, Uncle Vic Rock. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive.
Floral arrangements are being accepted. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church with Reverend Rick Dawson officiating. Military Gravesdide Honors will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
