Ann Barnes, age 86 passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, April10, 2021 in a Pensacola Healthcare facility. She was born December 14, 1934 in Coffee County, Alabama the daughter of Daniel Jefferson Barnes and Lillie Mae Ezell Barnes. Ann was a 1953 graduate of Walton High School. She took an active role in planning their class reunions for more that forty years, serving as treasurer. She spent her entire forty-one year professional career as a federal employee working for the Agriculture Stabilization Conservation Services as a Program Assistant. Providing assistance for her farmers was Ann’s top priority. She enjoyed working alongside her colleague and dear friend Betty Stafford. During her life Ann was an active member of First United Methodist Church of DeFuniak Springs and was a die-hard Auburn fan. She loved spending time with family, watching sunsets at her bay house, fishing, photography, traveling, dog sledding, snowmobiling, riding wave runners and playing with her beloved cat, Fluffy. She is predeceased by her parents, her siblings, Porter, Annie Lucile, Nancie and Georgia and her nieces, Edra Mae and husband Fred, Alice and husband Jake and her nephews, Paul and Charles.
Among survivors are her nieces Annie Ruth Barnes Judy and husband Wilbur E. (Butch) and Jimmie Evans Ramos; her nephews, Larry Daniel Kelley and Garry James Kelley and her extended family, Genny Crocker (Best friend for sixty years and caregiver for the last five), Geretha Crocker Gray and husband Donald W. , Kimberly Gray Fess and husband Joseph F. and Kristine Gray Acosta and husband Kenneth J. Great nephews Scott and Grayson and great nieces, Addison, Emily and Olivia.
Among those asked to serve as pallbearers are Kenneth Acosta, Zack Bell, Grayson Fess, Joseph Fess, Donald Gray and Scott Jacobs. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Ann Barnes’ memory to First United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 9, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435 or to favorite charities.
A time of visitation will be Monday, April 12, 2021 from 1 until 2 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with the funeral beginning at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Frances Turner officiating.
