Biography

Angelo Albert Cibiras, age 80 of DeFuniak Springs passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2010 in Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born April 21, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Matthew and Barbara Tolusius Cibiras. After completing high school in Chicago he served his country with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning home to Chicago he was employed with Presbyterian Saint Luke Hospital where he met his future wife, Eleanor Koerber and they were married in October of 1958 and moved to her hometown of DeFuniak Springs where he joined her father’s business, Henko. His employment with the family business lasted until 1973 when he retired. Angelo loved sports, namely New York Yankee’s baseball, Notre Dame football and Duke basketball not to mention probably his favorite, the San Francisco Giants.

Among survivors are his wife, Eleanor Koerber Cibiras, his son Bobby Cibiras of Pernsacola, his daughter Carol Ward and husband Allen of Destin , his granddaughters, Aimee Cibiras, Alyssa Ward and Breanne Ward, his sisters-in-law Doris Mathis and husband Sam of Tallahassee and Joan Cibiras of DeFuniak Springs. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorials may be made in Angelo Cibiras’ memory to favorite charities. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 4, 2010 from 10 until noon in Jerry Evans Chapel. Private interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
