Alan William Riehl

Alan William Riehl, 62, Santa Rosa Beach, FL passed away September 25th, 2017. He was born in Royal Oak, Michigan on December 29, 1954 to Clyde and Helen (Burnett) Riehl. He attended Shrine High School in Royal Oak, Tallahassee Community College and Florida State University. After college, he lived in Miami, Jacksonville, and his favorite place of all, Charleston.
Alan was an AP photographer throughout high school and college. Later, he worked at BAR Marine Group and became interested in offshore boat racing. He served as Crew Chief & Assistant Crew Chief for numerous teams being part of the Fountain Unlimited National Championship Team in ‘05 and ‘06.
He moved to Florida in 1995 and was a Florida Certified General Contractor. He worked at Legendary, Inc. where he was involved in the building of the Mid Bay Marina Complex. He worked with the St. Joe Company for 14 years as Director of Development. He was a part of numerous projects, including Watercolor, Watersound, Origins, and the commercial projects at the Panama City International Airport.
Alan always had an interest in anything with a motor. He could fix absolutely anything and loved working on old 4 x4’s. He was involved with Coastal Customs & Restorations in Freeport, Florida. He loved the water and boating was a passion.
He is preceded in death by his father, Clyde Riehl; his mother, Helen Riehl; and his sister Laurie Riehl. Alan is survived by his wife, Kitty Taylor; his step children, Taylor Frappier; Catherine Ryland and her husband Daniel; sister Dorene Bellaire and her husband Ron; brother-in-law Cole Taylor and wife Janet; nieces Kelly Cargnelli, Jenny Boucher, Colby Taylor, Jessie Taylor; grandnieces Jaiden and Peyton; grandnephews Austin and Zack. He is also survived by his four grandchildren Isabella, Liliana, Scout and Chappell.
Alan was loved by many and will be in our hearts forever.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Alan Riehl will be held October 6th, 2017 at 11:00 am at Point Washington United Methodist Church, 1290 North County Highway 395, Santa Rosa Beach. Reception will follow.
